To understand CERFO's environmental commitment ,it is worth remembering that the recycling of solar panels is mandatory by law thanks to Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012 on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) estimates a global production of eight million tons of waste by 2030 after the first modules reach their retirement age (25-30 years) and 78 million in 2050.
CERFO understands sustainability as a commitment of citizens and companies. This environmental commitment seeks to achieve an environmentally, socially and economically viable future.
Our goal is to anticipate the problem of photovoltaic waste accumulation foreseen for the coming years through the application of appropriate technology and treatments that allow an adequate management of photovoltaic waste in Europe, anticipating the large number of panels that will reach the end of their useful life before 2030.
It is also intended to contribute to the fulfillment of the international commitments acquired by Spain regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and to favor the country's decarbonization goal.
